  1. Yeah.. I'm going two for two here! Top question: possibilities such as frequent variation of instruction, checklists and inventories of interest, allowing students to select from a menu of required skills and then collaborating on a way to achieve those skills, and allowing and encouraging a variety of assessments, with the student present and contributing at each step, with support and guidance.

  2. I do a lot of centers with my class. I need to incorporate more centers of an investigative nature. I tend to have centers with more of an intended product and less inquiry based learning. Again, first grade is a work in progress for me!

  3. I can facilitate a student centered classroom by doing more project based activities where students become more responsible for their learning. Rubrics and checklists that are previewed before projects begin will keep students on task and goal oriented.

Technology can be used for research, in the projects for students to complete (brochures, newsletters, etc.), in blogs and Wikis to name a few.

  6. I can facilitate a student centered classroom by having more projects withing the classroom. I have been very steered away for this because of my own hang-up with grading. I need to use rubrics and get over it.

  11. I can have a more student centered classroom by providing more opportunities for the students to discover & investigate on their own, in partners, & in small groups. I need to ask more open-ended, higher-level questions that will motiviate my students to search out the answers. It will be more meaningful that way. I think projects are an excellent way to do this.

Most students love to use technology & there are endless websites with tools to aid teachers in using technology in their teaching. I'm excited about using a lot more technology in my classroom this year!

  13. I hope to have a posted schedule/agenda for the day including pull-out programs (i.e., speech) so students know what is going on. This will help students know what's next or what they might 'miss'. I plan to have pictorial/written instructions at my stations and have peer helpers so students can 'ask three' and help each other. I hope to have classroom access to the internet for websites/blogs/Wikis so the children feel connected and can see things at home. Although I always have a plan, I hope to use brainstorming to be sure that I have/will incorporate the interests and strengths of my students.

  16. We can use technology in music class by finding online interactive worksheets for kids to do using rhythms, recorder fingerings, and music reading. If there is a white board available to use, we can do this either in our classroom, or in the room where the white board is. The students would not be able to to this on their own, but we could do it as a group project.
